Coming to work at Elliot Oliver is a big career change for me as I’d previously worked in childcare for 10 years. Although I really enjoyed my job I needed a change and a new challenge and, having always enjoyed looking at and thinking about properties, I decided to get a job in lettings.
My role at Elliot Oliver is lettings negotiator and while I’m new to the squad, I’m fitting in well and learning lots. Working in lettings is something I can see myself doing for the long term, definitely.
Being a lettings negotiator involves a lot of the skills I learned from working in childcare. You have to balance lots of different needs and be able to communicate really well with all sorts of people and be very empathetic.
A good lettings negotiator is someone who can talk and keep the conversation flowing. You have to be confident and truthful with tenants and landlords, as well as be mindful that moving can be very stressful even at the best of times.
I’ve lived in Cheltenham for five years now and I love it here. I live with my fiance and our son and you’ll often find me at soft play centres or walking through Cheltenham’s many parks. You can also find me shopping and eating in the Brewery Quarter – my favourite hangout spot – or dreaming about our next holiday. I also like to make my own food and am a big fan of Middle Eastern dishes.
My ideal tenant would be actor and comedian Adam Sandler. He’s just hilarious and I think showing him around a couple of properties would be the perfect chance to get to know him better and have a real laugh with. He’d almost certainly want to rent an old country mansion – one of the best things about Cheltenham is the number of listed buildings – so it’d be great to find one for him.
