Summer’s over, and Christmas is coming
For most of us, the summer is a time to laze about and go away on holiday. Lots of decisions are deferred until the kids are back at school and those tans are starting to fade. Once everyone’s back into the old routine, however, thoughts turn to house moves, especially with the prospect of being in a nice new home for Christmas.
Autumn is a very decorative time
There’s something about autumn that the other seasons can’t quite match. It’s not too cold and dark just yet, people aren’t rushing around for Christmas and there’s lots of reasons and opportunities to decorate inside and outside the house. There’s Halloween celebrations, red leaves and pumpkins, as well as fir cones and open fires. Then, of course, there’s the special spicy smells of autumn. All in all, autumn appeals to the senses more than other seasons so if you can entice someone into your home with cosy lighting, seasonal scents and the warm hug of a log burner, you’re winning.
Moving in winter can be cheaper
Spring and very early summer can be the busiest times for house movers, which means that removal and storage companies are more in demand – and therefore more expensive. Once the summer lull is over, business starts to pick up pace and some removal services lower their prices a bit to help this along. Even if you don’t get a big reduction in fees, you’ll have more choice of companies and dates, which means much less stress.
Autumn attracts the serious buyers
The lure of Christmas in a new home is a big driver, so you’ll have a bigger proportion of motivated buyers during autumn than at other times of the year. You’ll also find that some of your viewers are raring to go after putting everything on pause for the summer, so bust out the pumpkin spice candles and make the most of the extra footfall.
