Autumn in Cheltenham is a very special time of year. Not only is there lots going on as we prepare for Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, but the town’s parks, crescents and squares look stunning with all the red and orange leaves.
Although there’s no shortage of things to do, you might need a bit of inspiration so we’ve got three winning activities for you to try out while the days are still warm and golden.
Chase Lane Fireworks at Dunkertons Cider Brewery
There’ll be cider, fireworks and lots of fun on November 4 at Dunkertons. The great thing about this event is that it’s low noise due to the nearby horses and other livestock, but it’ll look just as stunning as a “regular” fireworks display. The relatively peaceful nature of the display also makes it suitable for younger children and anyone who doesn’t like a lot of noise.
Starting at 4.30pm for a 6.30pm firing time, the event also promises good food and drinks, as well as live music to get everyone in the mood. Book your tickets here and get your sparklers ready!
Carve some Halloween pumpkins at Webbs Garden Centre
Head to Webbs Garden Centre on Evesham Road, Cheltenham, GL50 4SJ to get your Halloween craft on.
There’s nothing better during October half term than spending an hour or two carving a pumpkin into a terrifying spectacle – you’ll even get a free tea light to complete the job! The event is open to all ages and the sessions run from October 26 right up to October 31 at 10.00am, 11.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Call 01242672560 to find out more.
Stroll through the leaves in one of Cheltenham’s gorgeous parks
If it’s autumn leaves you’re after then you’re spoiled for choice in Cheltenham! We love Pittville Park for an autumnal adventure. It’s in the centre of the town but you’ll feel as if you’re miles away once you start exploring its walkways – and you can grab a hot drink along the way to keep you warm.
Just a few minutes out of town (or around 20 if you’re walking there) is Crickley Hill Country Park, with lots of trails and managed woodland. You’ll need your wellies, but you’ll get some amazing views of Cheltenham when you get up high enough.
