Interiors for 2017

It’s a New Year, which always ushers in new trends, especially in the fast-paced world of interior design. If you’re set to move this year, here are the trends you should be thinking about, both for the place you’re selling and your new home.

Steely look

Stainless steel is making a big comeback in 2017, but it’s got a new look this year – black! Nothing says modern and urban as much as black stainless steel, especially if it’s used in bathrooms and kitchens. It can even make itself known in living areas and outside the house.

More metals

You’re not restricted to black stainless steel, however! You can use the regular shiny steel-coloured steel if you want. Or, indeed, any other metals you fancy – brass, copper, pewter, bronze…whatever. Mix them up, both warm and cold tones, and inject a bit of industrial glam (it’s a thing) into your lives.

Green hasn’t been left behind, though!

You might think that with all the metallic industrial action going on that green and more natural colours had been relegated to history, but you’d be wrong. Green is set to be one of the colours of 2017, as long as it’s bright and vibrant. In among all the coppers and the pewters, a pop of bright green reminds us that there’s a beautiful natural world out there, ready for us to explore. Green is also a relaxing colour that lowers blood pressure and encourages creativity, so as long as it’s used cleverly, it could be a real asset to your home environment.

Foldable furniture and fittings

Previously the reserve of bedsits and caravans, fold-up furniture is increasingly making its way into the home. There’s also foldaway fittings, like beds and even wall-mounted sofas, coming through into general use. In a world where space is becoming more and more precious, you should be thinking about how to make the most of what you have with some smart, multi-tasking household items.
