Get Set for Summer by Revamping Your Garden

Summer is nearly upon us and if you’re planning to sell your property then your garden is particularly important this season. You can make it work for you by giving it a revamp before you book in your first viewings.

Mow the lawn and neaten up the flower beds

The easiest fix of all is to mow the lawn and weed the flower beds. If you spot any sparse patches on your lawn, re-seed them and let them grow a bit before mowing again. Get rid of any weeds and neaten up the edges and, if necessary, add some fast-growing flowers to add some interest and colour.

Examine your garden furniture

If your outdoor table and chairs are looking tired, then either clean or replace them before setting them out for the sunny season. You need your viewers to imagine themselves in your garden next summer and tatty old garden furniture isn’t going to inspire them at all.

Simplify any landscaping you may have

Not everyone is an amazing gardener, so if you have a complicated landscaping layout in your garden, it may be worth having it streamlined so that potential buyers aren’t intimidated by the thought of its upkeep.

Create an outdoor kitchen

If you have the space, then create an outdoor kitchen for some Mediterranean appeal. It doesn’t have to be a huge affair – a brick barbecue will suffice – but make sure that it’s in a cosy corner so that people can’t wait to move in and spark it up.

Buy a new shed

A ramshackle old shed is a serious turn-off for buyers as they add it to the mental To-do List of Doom (it’s a thing) and if there’s a few items on this list when they see your property, then you could lose them. A new shed isn’t a major expense or undertaking, so invest in a new one before you go on the market. Dismantling the old shed is also a good excuse to get rid of all the junk you’ve accumulated in it!
